Vehicle customization has been a fan favorite since Los Santos Customs debuted in GTA 5, and GTA 6 looks set to expand on that formula given the sheer variety of vehicles teased across trailers so far. From classic muscle cars to airboats built for Leonida’s swamps, the range on display suggests customization shops will need to handle far more vehicle types than before.
Body modifications, paint jobs, and performance upgrades are almost certainly returning as a baseline. What’s less clear is how deep Rockstar will go with newer categories like watercraft and off-road vehicles suited to the wetlands surrounding Vice City. Given how central boats and swamp buggies appear in early footage, dedicated customization options for these vehicle types wouldn’t be surprising.
Motorcycle culture also looks set to play a bigger role. Trailer footage has shown detailed bike models cruising along coastal roads, hinting at expanded customization trees similar to what GTA Online eventually introduced for motorcycles years after launch. If Rockstar builds this depth in from day one instead of adding it later, it would mark a notable shift in approach.
There’s also speculation around performance tuning becoming more nuanced, with handling changes that go beyond cosmetic upgrades. Players who enjoyed fine-tuning suspension, gear ratios, or drift setups in other racing-focused titles may find GTA 6 leaning further into that space than previous entries attempted.
Exact shop names and mechanics remain unconfirmed, but between the vehicle variety already shown and Rockstar’s track record with customization systems, GTA 6 looks positioned to offer its deepest garage experience yet.
