Radio stations have been a signature part of the Grand Theft Auto experience since the series’ earliest days, and Vice City in particular holds a special place in that history thanks to its iconic 1980s-inspired soundtrack. With GTA 6 returning to a reimagined Vice City, expectations for its in-game radio lineup are running high.
Rockstar has not officially confirmed track lists or station names for GTA 6, but the franchise’s history offers a strong indication of what’s likely coming. Past titles have consistently mixed licensed music spanning multiple genres and decades with original talk radio segments, satirical advertisements, and in-world commentary that add humor and personality to the world beyond just background music.
Given Leonida’s Florida-inspired setting, a strong emphasis on genres tied to the region and its cultural influences would make sense, think Latin music, hip-hop, and dance tracks alongside classic rock and pop staples that have long been GTA radio mainstays. The original Vice City leaned heavily into synth-driven 80s hits, and a modern Leonida could similarly draw from current genres that define the region’s contemporary sound.
Licensing music for a game of this scale is a massive undertaking, often involving hundreds of negotiated deals with artists and labels. This complexity is part of why detailed soundtrack information typically isn’t revealed until much closer to launch, giving Rockstar time to finalize agreements without prematurely announcing songs that might not make the final cut.
Talk radio and comedic content, another franchise staple, will likely return as well, given how central satire and social commentary have been to the series’ identity since its earliest entries. These segments have historically served as some of the sharpest writing in each game, poking fun at real-world trends and culture through an exaggerated in-game lens.
Fans eager for a full track list will likely need to wait until closer to the November 19 release date, but based on franchise history, GTA 6’s soundtrack is shaping up to be another carefully curated centerpiece of the game’s atmosphere.
